Analytics policy
What we measure, what we never measure, and how your choice is respected.
1. Why we measure anything
We want to know which articles are useful, which topics people search for, and whether readers go on to contact Be Cool Refrigeration. That tells us what to write next and what to improve. We do not use analytics to identify individual readers, and we do not use it for advertising.
2. The tools
- Google Tag Manager loads our measurement code and enforces your consent choice.
- Google Analytics 4 counts visits and the events listed below.
Google processes this data on our behalf under its data processing terms. Google may process it in the United States, which is covered by the safeguards described in our privacy policy.
3. How consent works
- When you first arrive, every consent setting starts as denied: analytics, advertising, ad personalisation and ad user data.
- Google Tag Manager itself loads so it can read your choice. On its own it does not set analytics cookies.
- Our Google Analytics tag is configured to fire only once analytics consent is granted. Until then no analytics data is sent to Google.
- If you press Accept, analytics consent is granted and Google Analytics starts on that page. Advertising consent always stays denied.
- If you press Reject, nothing changes: analytics stays off.
- Measurement only runs on becool.uk.com, never on test or preview copies of the site.
4. What we measure (with consent)
| What | Example |
|---|---|
| Pages viewed | Which articles were read, and in what order |
| How you arrived | Search engine, another website, a newsletter link, or typed in directly |
| Approximate location | Country and town, worked out by Google from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses |
| Device and browser | Phone or desktop, browser type, screen size, language |
| Engagement | How long a page was open, and similar standard measures Google Analytics records |
becool_outbound_click | You clicked a link to becoolrefrigeration.co.uk. We record the link, its text and which part of the page it was in |
phone_click | You tapped the Be Cool phone number |
5. What we never measure
- Your name, email address, phone number or anything you type
- Anything for advertising, remarketing or building advertising audiences
- Data from people who rejected or ignored the cookie banner
6. Links to Be Cool Refrigeration
Links from this site to becoolrefrigeration.co.uk carry labels in the web address (such as utm_source=becool.uk.com) so Be Cool Refrigeration can see that an enquiry started here. That site has its own privacy and cookie policies, which apply once you arrive there.
7. How long data is kept
Google Analytics keeps user-level and event-level data for the retention period set in our account, which is never longer than 14 months. Reports made of totals, such as monthly page views, may be kept longer because they do not identify anyone.
8. Your choices
- Change your mind at any time: .
- Delete existing cookies in your browser settings.
- Google also offers a browser add-on that blocks Google Analytics on every website.
